Five years
Apr. 9th, 2026 07:47 pmThis might be a nice opportunity to hop on over to her journal and comment or visit her AO3 page and read one of her fics, leave a kudos!
We all have our favourite memories of June, and this is one of mine. When I bought Jensen for June's birthday one year, and he became quite a fixture in her life. She loved to torture Sam, and her sister, Brenda by leaving him in unexpected places around the house. Screams upon stepping out of the bathroom was a regular occurrence in June's house! XD

Speaking of Sam, he shared the below picture on June's memorial Facebook page earlier today, and I'm sure he won't mind me sharing it here, because it sums up our darling June better than any words I could ever use!!

Gyeongju was great!
Apr. 9th, 2026 05:08 pmInstead, when we arrived the outlet area, it was like… I don’t know the exact terms, but I would use the word “Street Mall”. I actually managed to score a new pair of running shoes - and it was the pair that I had been planning to get next, after I did that trial run thing last year. I trialed the Puma Deviate Nitro 3, and although by now there’s already the Nitro 4, I knew I liked the Nitro 3 and anyway, the outlet didn’t have the Nitro 4 for me to try it anyway.
They are… ORANGE! So sharp! I like!
What made me buy a new pair of running shoes? I did promise myself last year that after the Fuji Run I would get a new pair of running shoes, I was just being lazy and didn’t do it. And now I got new shoes! Almost half price of what I would have paid back at home.
The run itself was dreary. It rained on the day. And if I thought the run itself was miserable, I was sorely wrong. After the run, to pick up the medal and the finishing pack, we had to go through a muddy field, with poor indication of where to queue and such. The field was of so muddy, my running shoes were submerged in muddy water. When I did everything that I had to do, on my walk back to the hotel, I actually went down a river to rinse my shoes first. Then the following day we went to the outlet mall, and saw the sparkly new shoes… and that’s basically what made me decide to buy a new pair of running shoes.
THOUGH! Puma did just come up with new Pokémon shoes and I’m really eyeing the Umbreon ones, despite being male shoes… if I go by a Puma one of these days I’ll have a look see.
Gyeongju as a city itself is beautiful. Cherry blossom trees EVERYWHERE. Every street, every corner. But the practical part of me is also annoying and I kept thinking “the cleaners are going to have a lot of work to do!”
Of course, I get to rant too. I think this is the last time I’m going on holiday with this particular friend. She’s my one and only running pal, but I really just can’t with her see-sawing decisions.
Rant coming on and the photos are just random
( Read more... )
But then, the SAME NIGHT after dinner, she said “want to go buy some Korean fried chicken for snacking.” Okay mood queen?
On race day, it was raining. “Oh, I don’t want to go run,” she says. I’m like, “sure, stay then,” and she goes “are you going in this weather?” Hey, I came all the way for the run, I’m not going to miss it? Then she comes with???? I thought you’re staying?
Or right now on the plane. We took a low cost carrier so everything is paid extra. On the return trip, I asked her. “Are you going to buy a seat or just let it random assign?” And she said “I’l just let it random assign.” Ok, sure, so I let it random assign. When we go in, I saw she bought the front row extra wide seat.
At the end of the day, I know that what she decides doesn’t really affect me, and I’m not so egoistical to think that everything must go my way. But I really, really, can’t with eternally see-sawing decision makers. If it’s stuff like weather or feeling unwell, then yeah, that’s fine. But it’s when it’s just an anyhoo attitude that it annoys me to no end. I don’t make a fuss about it and I don’t complain about it on spot, but I really, really really, reaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyy find it annoying. That, and she will only do things that benefit her, without caring whether it affects the people around her.
She says she loves driving and decided to rent a car for the trip. Sure. Do we take turns? When we were in Japan, we took turns. But here in South Korea? She drove maybe twice? Then she defaulted to me always driving? Which is fine, again, it’s fine, but if I’m driving, you’re the navigator please? No, she’s just on her phone. I did miss highway exits 3 times, and I did voice out before certain exits, because I can’t always look at the road and look at the GPS at the same time, hey I’m driving, my eyes should be on the road, right? (And music is driver’s choice, but she kept hogging the USB connection!)
One time for food, she kept asking me, “so what do you want to eat?” In all honesty, I don’t really mind what to eat. But if we decide to eat this one thing (noodles), can we stick to noodles please? Then at night she complained to me I’m so “whatever” and asked if I was just being polite to let her decide. I’m like… in all honesty, I really don’t mind, I can eat whatever. And I don’t complain.
I think it was also on the second to last day, we had run out of places to go (we visited all the marked places to go), and I wanted to go back to the hotel to use the Spa and Sauna facilities. But because she was on her period, she couldn’t use the facilities, so for her, she was in no hurry to go back to the hotel. Then I also filled in a survey form from the Race, and got a code to redeem card, she also did, but I guess she filled in her email address wrong so never received the email, so for her, it wasn’t important to go to the tourist info center to get it.
On the last day, I’ll admit I was in a bit of a sour mood - we did all the things that she decided. She would ask me what I want to do, mostly I’m ok with whatever, but when I did say what I wanted, she totally ignored. I’m not a complainer-to-the-person (I know I should, but I want to avoid on-the-spot conflicts). I was in a bit of a “black face” (looking grumpy and unresponsive I guess) because she suddenly wanted to go for coffee and cake, her words “we need to look for a place to sit down and have a coffee and toilet break,” ok, just in FRONT of us was a cafe, so I pointed to that, but she goes “I don’t want this one.” And walked on.
Found a cafe, and it was like a cafeteria type, take your tray and choose a seat. I looked around and saw seats were available but she went and chose a window seat between 2 groups of people. Then she found out the 2 groups of people would only leave us with 2 chairs so she said “oh, it’s a bit tight.” Sure. So I sat in another table, but also facing the window and started to eat my cake. She sat there, waiting… over 45 minutes when one of the groups left, she said “I insist to sit at the window,” and moved her seat. She looked at me for a long time and I just continued to eat my cake looking at the window.
I don’t really care where we seat, but once seated, I’m not moving. Sorry. I don’t like to create extra work for the staff, I’m staying put. So while she waited the 45 minutes to get the bloody seat, I was done with my coffee and tea and can you just feel how annoyed I was feeling? I guess she did and in the end when there was absolutely nothing else to do she finally said “ok let’s go pick up that freebie gift.” I think if she had received the email she would be running to pick it up.
And on the last night when she finally deigned to let us return to the hotel early enough for the Spa, it’s Monday and they are closed Mondays. Hey at least I got the freebie gift.
Oh, at one point in time we also discussed about Yoga. I said I couldn’t hold some poses for too long because I couldn’t breathe. I don’t know what she heard or understood that as, but for the rest of the trip she just kept making inferences that I’m very impatient and that I wouldn’t be able to sit down quietly and meditate and not use the phone if I went on a retreat. EXCUSE ME????? I already said, I couldn’t hold the pose because I COULDN’T BREATHE, how does that equate to not having patience?
I’ll be the first to admit that I could get impatient, but I can also sit quietly and meditate without doing anything. When she was driving, I’d sit quietly and give navigation pointers to her. When I’m driving, she’s sitting there on her phone replying to messages and not giving me ANY navigational assistance that I missed the exit 3 times. NOW WHO IS THE ONE THAT CAN SIT QUIETLY AND NOT USE THE PHONE?
She once mentioned about how she doesn’t know why her elder sister and younger sister don’t seem to include her in family gatherings… I don’t know the full story of course, but in a way, I think I can see why. I mean, she does think about others sometimes (when it equally affects her) but, it’s even when she walks, she doesn’t care about her surroundings. I really don’t know how to explain it. Oh boy.
Anyway, my small petty revenges? Since she went and bought and up-front seat and I was stuck in the back, I decided to embrace the life of the backers. She sent me a text “I’m rushing out coz I need to pee!” Ok. Go pee. Usually I’d be tense and counting at every row of people that starts to leave, eagerly awaiting my turn. This time? I was calm. I let the people go off the plane. I walked slowly to the train shuttle. All the while, she was like, sending short messages like “I’ll cross immigration”, “I’ll wait on this side of the luggage belt”, “are you out yet?”
I took my sweet time, not pushing against people. Saw the train doors closing and…. Just slowed down so I can comfortably take the next train without rushing. Before crossing immigration, went to the toilet. Washed my hands, face, applied more cream, SPF, hand cream. Touched up the light makeup I had. Fixed my hair and hat. Slowly walked out. When I reached the belt, apparently she had already picked up my luggage as well. “Oh, thank you,” I say.
Because I booked the car ride from Hong Kong Airport back to Macau, she’d have to wait for me ANY WAY. Let her wait. *harrrrummmmppphhhhh*Anyway, if you are interested and have the time to view the rest of the photos, the album is here.
A Great Decision, Some Good Food, and a Whiney Dog

I haven't done these in a long while, but this happened yesterday or so.
"What my computer said: "The Only Way You Should Cut up a Pineapple, According to Del Monte".
What my brain heard: "The Only Way You Should Cut up a Pineapple, According to Dal Monte".
Needless to say, I was very confused, wondering why on Earth Toti Dal Monte (a very famous opera singer) would write about cutting up pineapples! Yes, it's time to go to bed."
The other day, I wrote this on Reddit and Mastodon. I am not putting it behind a cut, both because it's short and because I'm curious if anyone can help us.
"Tonight, at dinner, I somehow began discussing blindness and colour with my nephews D and A, who are twelve and seventeen, respectively. Since they are minors, I will just use the first letters of their names. Both are fully sighted and I am totally blind, having never seen. D thought of an idea whereby colours would be represented by different textures that could be drawn onto the page. Then, he said, they could be equated with things that connect the colours to things e.g. blue with wavy lines like the ocean. A said that, when he was around ten or so, he had pens that, when turned at the top, would change not only their tip and colour, but also the texture on the ink! Unfortunately, he couldn't remember the name of the brand. I asked Perplexity, and it gave me suggestions like Cra-Z-Art Spiral or Twistable Texture Pens, magic texture changers, Moon Monster Texture Changers, and Gel-X Texture Pens. I couldn't find anything about those, even in nostalgia discussions, while searching the Internet. I found something about Puffy Pens, which led me to a page with pens that, when hot air from a blow dryer is used, puff up and become tactile, but that was not what he was describing. I also found information on Hi Mark - Tactile Pens, but these sound similar to the Paint Pens for the Blind that I once tried. These aren't pens at all, but little bottles that you squeeze as you draw. Wet paint is released and dries into a plastic-feeling tactile picture. Does anyone have any idea what D was talking about? Have you used such pens, or do you know where we can find them?
In the meantime, I sent D some videos of the Sensational Blackboard and links on tactile graphics. I own the Blackboard but must find it and my tracing paper."
D, A, and I are all atheists, but Mom and Joanie are somewhat religious. They're not church-going types, but they each have their own beliefs. Mom said that this wasn't an Easter dinner, but I do think she was trying to make it a little special. She made ham steak, which is fairly normal, and which we all like. But She also ordered won ton soup, pork fried rice, and lo mein, from this local Hawaiian place (they have Chinese food as well), and as strange as the combination sounds, it was actually quite delicious! Plus, it gave me an excuse to enjoy my moscato.
Today, I had the pleasure of watching Alli. Sorry for any sarcasm that may have dripped onto your keyboard. I have no idea what his problem is, but I have very little patience for such things. All he did was bark, and scratch the door, and bark, and bark, and scratch the door. Did I mention bark? He would be good for a few minutes and then start again. Fortunately, I watch him very rarely, since my parents usually take him with them when they go out, but they had to be in this place together, so one couldn't wait in the car with him. Mom said she's getting him pills from the doctor. It's sad that she won't try to train him, but honestly, at this point, as long as he's quiet, I don't care. I never had this problem with Chloe (a Yorkshire Terrior combined with a Poodle). She was always well-behaved, and I never dreaded watching her. I don't like anything needy or clingy, be it a child or an animal. A partner would be different, but even then, there is a difference between truly needing my help and being annoying. I am not the maternal type.
The rest of the day was quiet and was basically spent writing filler entries and relaxing. I did get a delicious iced cream cup as a treat, though, and that really made me smile!
La Cenerentola, 1953
Apr. 4th, 2026 11:58 pmHello, Dear Readers. At long last, it's time for another opera review! I've been wanting to do this one for awhile, but only recently did I listen to it.
( La Cenerentola, 1953 )
Can I be cheeky?
Apr. 6th, 2026 07:36 pmOne, I had a birthday last week and two, I kind of like rabbits a bit.
So, I have combined the two and set up a birthday fundraiser on Facebook for the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund.
https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/
The RWAF is the UK's largest charity devoted entirely to improving the lives of pet rabbits. Their work includes education and awareness campaigns as wel as lobbying to ensure that rabbit welfare best practice is adopted wherever necessary. They also provide information and support to owners, rescues, and vets.
If you can spare a few pennies to donate to this amazing charity, you will have made my birthday very happy indeed! The fundraiser runs until the 12th April.

Haydn and an Interesting Idea
Apr. 1st, 2026 01:56 pmHello, Dear Readers, and happy first of April! Here is today's musical piece.
( Thoughts on Haydn: Symphony No. 37 in C major )
Today, I made what would seem like an unusual post in the R/Blind and Fine and r/Blind subreddits. I am putting it behind a cut for those who are not interested. It's in relation to the ACB, or American Council of the Blind.

A Little Beethoven and Some Conversation
Mar. 25th, 2026 11:42 amHello, Dear Readers. Here is some music and an interesting conversation about DB's performances with his orchestra. Even though my last technical response ws today, I am still dating this for the 25th, as that is the date of the review and the initial reply.
( Thoughts on Beethoven: Sextet )
Talk to me about interesting stuff you found
Apr. 6th, 2026 09:22 amNAME: just call me nerdsorrow for now <3.
AGE: I am thirty or forty years old! I don't mind being followed or messaged by the legally minor, the gen zees/gen alphas are doing a lot of good web art/retro revival stuff right now. my journal is gen atm, I will likely make a private community for writing if I start posting fic or other nsfw.
I MOSTLY POST ABOUT: Art (other people's) (especially smallweb and multimedia stuff), writing (other people's), music, movies, etc. There will be the inevitable diaryposting and a bit of personal art, but I want to share cool stuff I've found.
I AM LOOKING FOR: Do you post about art, music, movies, etc? If you ever do even a little bit at all of recs or reviews, comment here. If you share your own art of any kind, comment here! It's so hard to find good new things on this evil internet.
SUBSCRIPTION/ACCESS POLICY: Currently all my stuff is public, if I use this more intensively, I may make personal/diary posts private
I never thought I'd see the day

The Friday Five for March
Mar. 31st, 2026 07:40 pmHello, Dear Readers. It's now the end of March, which means it's time for the monthly Friday Five! As usual, all of these can be found at
The Friday Five for 6 March 2026
These questions were suggested by [personal profile]dray.
1. Do you know of any other words for snow? What's your favourite and why?
No. All snow is the same to me. But I do know of a tribe somewhere that has at least twenty words for snow.
2. What's your ideal temperature range for winter?
I honestly don't know. I'm too busy staying inside, avoiding the cold
3. Favourite winter activity? What about it makes it your favourite?
When I was a child, I liked skiing, sledding, and playing in the snow. Now, I like watching the old Christmas specials. They're fun.
4. What are three things you can't do without when winter arrives?
Warm clothing, my space heater, and hot drinks.
5. Do you have favourite winter holiday activities?
Not really, no.
The Friday Five for 13 March 2026: Magical Questions
These questions were suggested by [personal profile]spiralsheep.
1. Have you ever watched illusion magic? Close-up, or in a stage show, or on television? Did it work for you?
I'm totally blind, so no.
2. Have you ever wished on a star, or a lucky cat, or a coin in a wishing well? Did it work in some way?
I've thrown pennies in a wishing well. I suppose you could say it worked.
3. Have you ever cast a spell, made a love charm, or tried a curse? Did it work in some way?
No.
4. Are there any other traditional superstitions you pay attention to? Do they work in some way?
No. I'm the scientific type. My mother follows a few silly things, though.
5. Would you want major magical powers like in a fantasy story? Which powers, and how would you use them?
I would want to be a great bel canto singer and for my voice to have magical powers. I would only use it for good, though.
The Friday Five for 20 March 2026
These questions were suggested by [personal profile]melagan.
1. What was the reason you began a Dreamwidth or LiveJournal account (or both)?
I liked the idea of a slow-paced platform, where I could write about my own life, not just things that I read. I also wanted to make friends.
2. How many DW or LJ communities do you subscribe to?
I'm an open member of nine with eleven open subscriptions. I think that I means I can post to nine and only read eleven.
3. Do you have a favorite community or one you check out often to see what's new?
I check out the communities for adding friends, but I actually like the Friday Five for it's interesting questions.
4. How did you pick your user name?
I was already using dandylover1 elsewhere when I created this account. I was originally going to call myself Dandylover, but for some reason, I accidentally hit the back button in GMail, and even though I didn't finish creating my account, it said it was taken, so I had to add a number and chose 1. It could also mean that I'm the number one dandy lover, which is great.
5. If you could change your user name, would you?
No. I like it.
The following bonus questions are brought to you by the fact that I (anais_pf) have been unable to access any page of LiveJournal for more than a week (and therefore cannot post to The Friday Five there):
6. If you have a LiveJournal, are you currently able to access it?
Not applicable.
7. Do you have any information about why one would be unable to access LiveJournal?
See 6.
The Friday Five for 27 March 2026
1. What is a common ear worm that you get?
Too many to name. Usually, they're Neapolitan songs or opreatic ones, mostly for leggero tenors.
2. How long do they last?
It depends. Anywhere from a few hours to a few days, but they come and go.
3. What do you do to get rid of them?
I listen to other songs and arias.
4. What is the worst ear worm you've ever had?
Probably something from Tamagno, because he always leads me down ridiculous rabit holes of research that last long after I've forgotten the aria that started it!
5. Do you get some guilty pleasure in passing the ear worm along?
No. The people around me wouldn't know any of them, and even on the Internet, usually only my opera group has any clue what I'm talking about.
(Hopefully) Returning to Dreamwidth

I mostly post about: my personal life, which often means things that have happened recently or my mental or physical health. Sometimes I'll also post about hobbies and interests. I do want to post about my interests more, but sadly my health can take over my life quite a bit.
My hobbies and interests are: Music (particularly singing and learning bass right now), streaming (particularly VTubing), and playing video games are some of my main hobbies. I also try to read (mostly nonfiction) and want to get into writing again. I really like alt fashion and doing fun makeup, but sadly haven't been dressing up or touching makeup much lately. Oh, and I occasionally delve deep into researching psychology every now and then, so you might see something related to that. It's hard to name more specific interests right now, but I'm currently attempting to watch One Piece up to where I took a break from reading the manga, which is no small task. I've also been playing Arknights: Endfield, old MMORPGs, and Overwatch lately.
I'm looking to meet people who: have similar interests or also live with chronic illness, disability, mental health conditions, and/or are neurodivergent.
My posting schedule tends to be: very sporatic. I tend to use this site very sporatically in general.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: At the very least, I would only like to add people who lean politically left. No right-wingers or centrists, please. I don't have the brain power to name all of my stances right now, but a few of them people might have problems with are being pro Palestine (and anti genocide in general) and rights for marginalized people in general. We don't have to agree on everything politically if you're comfortable with that. (It really depends on the specific things and the cirumstances.) I guess my main dealbreaker is not being left-leaning. Oh, and I don't want to add anyone under 18. Generally I'd prefer to add people who are 20 and up.
Before adding me, you should know: I post a lot about my life and health, which understandably isn't for everyone. I'm also very shy and often have trouble getting back to DMs or comments. While I try my best to comment, I can't always think of something to say or might be low on energy, so if it's okay with you, I might comment "❤︎" (or something similar) on posts I've read.
Edit: One more thing. I prefer to mutually subscribe before giving full access to my journal!
That's it I think! Thanks for reading. ❤︎

I mostly post about: I try to keep it light, varied and enjoyable to other people; probably a focus on books, art and culture. I keep track of books I’m reading by posting excerpts. I treat the internet like I’m chatting with strangers in line at the grocery store / like I’m sending postcards to friends. (Things I don’t write about: people in my life, my job, my politics.)
My hobbies are: Writing, art and photography, STEM, history, vintage fashion, design, cooking, visiting museums/galleries, long walks in the countryside.
My fandoms are: I’ve sometimes written fic but for the most part I don’t really ‘do’ fandom. I like classic literature, British miniseries, old crime novels, genre fiction, war dramas, historical fiction, and (often obscure) character actors; I largely avoid YA and franchises.
I'm looking to meet people who: I like people who are kind, at ease with themselves, intellectually curious, and have mostly offline hobbies. I like to interact with mutuals regularly (I probably won’t comment on every entry and I don’t expect that everyone will comment on all of mine, but I like to maintain correspondence). We don’t need to know everything about each other. Also, I’m not truly a prude but to all intents and purposes please do treat me like one; I will do the same to everyone else.
My posting schedule tends to be: Variable, but approximately once a week.
When I add people, my dealbreakers are: Unsolicited advice, insufficient grass-touching, relentless negativity, too much fandom-posting (I just won’t have much to contribute!). I’d prefer not to add/be added by anyone under 18, even though my blog is very SFW.
Before adding me, you should know: Sometimes I’m very busy! And I’m Jewish.
