1. What is the last song/bit of music you heard?
Sweet Dreams are Made of These by Eurythmics. I heard it in an ep of GRIMM.
2. What is the song you can't get enough of right now?
Don't have any in particular that I am crazy about, but I do practice Messe Basse by Gabriel Faure in the shower everyday - we will be performing it in November.
3. What song/band did you just discover and think are great?
I'm not really in to bands - more into specific pieces - and am terrible at remembering names.
4. Do you listen to the same song over and over on repeat? Why?
So I can memorize it and sing along.
5. Do you make music, or do you want to?
I've written two pieces as a grownup. One was a school song for our English school, one was made with a poem written by a friend. This girl had what sounded like some serious mental issues. She was definitely depressed. I only knew her through a forum so I can't really be sure what part of the stuff she told me was actually true, and what was made up, but I thought the poem was beautiful.
A Secret Spell
I am freedom,I am morning dew,
I am early rain and carry lightness and purity.
I'm a wild heart and a sister of the River,
Stars rest on my eyelashes at night,
And flowers blossom in my palms;
The wind whistles in my hair as I float with it;
I dance with the most bitter storms and sit on clouds
I'm an awakening,a cracking dawn,
a trip to the Unknown
Water plays within my fingers
As I pick lillies, white like my arising
I carry a scent of autumn flowers and a spring breath
I am freedom and sharing, warmth, and radiance,
Purity and lightness, smiles and genuine laughter
I'm curiosity and adventurousness,a sweet worry;
I'm a child's searching eyes and burning ice
And high above my pain I'm rising
I'm a gentle touch and a soft caress,
Flames are burning in my eyes and in my hands
And fire is bringing my heart to life
I'm a white sheet,a new-born,a clean slate,
I weave wreaths from flowers' sweet aroma
And I embrace your hurts and sorrows,
Hold them,cradle them,
And when they get the love they needed
They free you and healing comes
The bud is blossoming,
The butterfly is leaving the coccoon,
I'm "getting out from the freezer,"
My life's beginning..
Thank you,Death and Torture
My parents have told me that I wrote a song for my grandparents' anniversary celebration. I don't remember it, unfortunately. I do things sporadically, when the muse hits. I wish it would hit more regularly. I am terrible at rhyming but the school song just flowed out of me in a few minutes. I will see if I can upload it.
Here it is. I just remembered I didn't actually record my voice for the lyrics on this one so here they are.
The lyrics are:
Chirp, chirp, chirp
Chirp, chirp, chirp
We are mockingbirds
We're not afraid to learn new words
We are mockingbirds
We copy what our teachers say
So we can talk with friends someday
Chirp, chirp, chirp
Chirp, chirp, chirp
We are mockingbirds
Canada, Britain America too
We will go and talk with friends around the world
Playing games and singing songs
That's how our lessons go
Chirp, chirp, chirp
Chirp, chirp, chirp
We are mockingbirds
We're not afraid to learn new words
We are mockingbirds
I found GRIMM and TVD on Hulu so I am taking the opportunity for a rewatch. I'm watching GRIMM now. Couldn't find Once Upon a Time though, unfortunately. I'm wracking my brain for any other shows I like that I can't watch on Netflix.
That's about it for now!
