Rei can speak Japanese, but he not very well (I think/ Rory tells me, Rory can speak it somewhat). He learns Japanese at school (as a subject), and as far as I know, speaks Japanese with his mother- at least partly. His mother is a lot of times 'up and go' without giving us a warning- so he often does not see her for weeks, so the 'practice' has not been consistent.

Can I ask what made you go and live in Japan in the first place? Was it that your family decided to immigrate there? You don't have to answer it, it'd just my curiosity and I understand.

I have been an 'outsider' all my life, too. It is something I think I have even stopped noticing by this time in my life :)
